- Advancing a differentiated active immunotherapy approach targeting alpha-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease; first human data confirm unique translational potential; pipeline expanded to Alzheimer’s disease, dermatology and ASCVD; company actively seeking pharmaceutical partnering
VIENNA, Austria, October 06, 2026 / Biotech Newswire / -- Tridem Bioscience, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering active immunotherapy for neurodegeneration, inflammatory skin diseases, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), today announced enrollment of the first patients in its Phase Ib clinical study of its lead vaccine candidate, TRB-001, in Parkinson’s disease. Tridem also reported encouraging data from its named-patient-use (NPU) program with TRB-001 and has completed recruitment for a small POC-type Phase I study with this candidate. Tridem Bioscience is actively seeking strategic co-development and licensing partnerships for its programs.
Phase Ib Clinical Study Initiated in Parkinson’s Disease
Tridem Bioscience has enrolled the first patients in its Phase Ib study of its intradermal therapeutic vaccine against misfolded alpha-synuclein, evaluating safety, immunogenicity and preliminary efficacy biomarkers. Top-line results are expected mid-2027. Parkinson’s disease affects approximately 10 million people worldwide; current therapies remain symptomatic, with no approved disease-modifying treatment.
“Dosing the first patient in our Phase Ib study is a pivotal moment for Tridem Bioscience and for the patients we aim to serve,” said Markus Mandler, Chief Executive Officer of Tridem Bioscience. “We believe that our TRB-001 WISIT vaccine has the potential to address the underlying pathology of Parkinson’s disease in a way that neither small molecules nor other immunotherapies have been able to achieve thus far. We look forward to reporting clinical results in the coming months.”
Named-Patient-Use Program Demonstrates Superior Immunological Potential
Over more than 80 weeks of follow-up in its NPU program in Parkinson’s disease, Tridem has observed a favorable safety profile, high and sustained target-specific antibody levels and encouraging signs of clinical activity. Crucially, antibody levels measured in humans reflected those achieved in mice and were in the range of monoclonal antibody therapy, showing the absence of a translational gap — a key differentiating attribute of the WISIT platform. Furthermore, the durability of the antibody response over the observation period supports the feasibility of a practical long-term dosing regimen.
Proof of Concept-type Phase 1 Study with TRB-001 fully enrolled
A smaller Phase 1 POC-type study applying a boost with TRB-001 has been fully recruited, according to the Company. The study is designed to yield first data on potential central target engagement. Lowering of aggregated alpha-synuclein in the cerebrospinal fluid would confirm the mode-of-action of TRB-001 in humans. Top-line results are expected in January 2027.
In Vivo Proof of Concept in Alzheimer’s Disease, Dermatology and ASCVD
Beyond Parkinson’s disease, Tridem has generated promising in vivo POC data in Alzheimer’s disease, inflammatory skin diseases and ASCVD. Assuming that the absence of an immunological translational gap — as observed with the alpha-synuclein vaccine candidate TRB-001 — is a general feature of the technology, these results indicate meaningful platform potential across multiple chronic diseases. The Company plans to advance these programs to Phase I readiness.
Pharmaceutical Partnering
Tridem Bioscience is actively seeking strategic co-development and licensing partnerships across its pipeline in Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dermatology and ASCVD. The Company is open to a range of deal structures and welcomes discussions with interested parties. Tridem is available for partnering meetings at upcoming scientific and industry conferences.
